Spaciousness
The breath expands each tiny intercostal muscle as I surrender my spine back to the earth, eyes closed, pressing my ociput into the mat and delighting in new blood circulating around a lazy brain stem. Prana has created space that didn't exist an hour ago, I had forgotten my body was capable of expansion like this. My mind settles un pocito, four kinds of thoughts: about the past, about the future, storytelling and the critic. There is space behind the thinker now too, finally Father Cavanaugh's awareness of your own awareness makes visceral sense. I sit, I stand, and I lay horizontal. There is nowhere else to be right now, no reality but the present moment. Wonderful moment. Life is better lived simply.
